Choosing the Right Garden Fencing

To ensure you find the perfect fit for your tastes, requirements and property type, we have introduced our fencing options below.

Our landscaping company uses vertical featheredge boards, which partially overlap, to create closeboard fences. For optimal strength, we fix rear horizontal supports in the form of wooden cant rails.

In addition to its inherent strength, closeboard fencing holds huge appeal due to its versatility, simple design and timeless appearance. Because we manufacture every aspect of these fences onsite, our installations handle contours with ease.

This fencing style consists of pre-fabricated timber panels which slot into posts. With the latter feature, you can choose between posts of timber or concrete. The erection process is fast and straightforward. First, we install the posts at the correct depth and on level ground. We then slot the panels between the posts to create the main structure.

Much like closeboard fences, panel options have zero through-visibility, so they offer complete privacy. The panels themselves have various designs. For example, you can choose between horizontal boards with vertical supports, or vice versa.

Unlike closeboard and panel designs, we erect picket fences for demarcation purposes. This makes them more of an aesthetic boundary marker as opposed to garden fencing that improves security and privacy.

We attach wooden picket pales to a rail, leaving gaps in between for through-visibility. The resulting structure is rich in traditional charm. Picket fences are ideal for marking out or protecting boundaries – including those around garden features, ponds and swimming pools – while allowing light to pass through.

Post and Rail

This garden fencing system comprises of horizontal rails fastened to vertical posts. Both the posts and rails consist of solid timber. As a type of open fencing, we don’t design post and rail installations for security or privacy, but to mark and protect boundaries.

Sturdy, simple, effective and easy to erect, this option works especially well in rural settings.

Our landscaping company can fix wooden trellis panels to the top of fences and walls. From Hove to Worthing, these features add traditional style, visual interest and increased practicality in gardens across Sussex. Available in grid or lattice structures, they also provide aesthetic versatility.

When placed atop fences and walls, trellises offer added security and the opportunity to grow climbing plants. DM Landscapes also uses trellises to create enclosures and screens with ample natural light transmission.
